ask me anything

saw this on my friend's journal (www.rabbitconspiracy.com) and asked something of her i have *really* wanted to know but never felt comfortable asking... so now i have to post this here.

* Ask me 3 questions.
* Any 3, no matter how personal, private or random.
* I have to answer them honestly. I have to answer them all.
* In turn, you post this message in your own blog or journal and you have to answer the questions that are asked of you.

Bring on the probing.

1. Excepting being a mother, what are you most proud of?

2. Give me your best parenting advice.

3. What's your favorite meal, including drinks, dessert, et cetera?

first, it must be mentioned that you look absolutely radiantly happy in that pic.

ok.

1. Excepting being a mother, what are you most proud of?

managing to be a moral, pretty virtuous person, although raised by wolves.

2. Give me your best parenting advice.

treat your child (and esp. your baby) as if he or she is on an acid trip. keep things mellow and happy as much as possible. avoid situations or experiences that cause overstimulation, fear, anxiety, or unnecessary discomfort for the kidlet. on the other hand, non-stressing interesting experiences are a definite DO. promoting a feeling of stability and security is key with handling both babies and those hallucinating via psychotropics.

i'm soooooo serious about this.

above all, compassion and an attempt to see their experience as they do is really important.

3. What's your favorite meal, including drinks, dessert, et cetera?

hmmm. whatever latt fixes? i'm just happy to have someone else cook for me. i like any meal that has lots of ice water and lemons...maybe salad with spinach and avocado and chicken and tomatoes and red bell pepper. i also like olives and nuts and eggs in there, if you really want to make me happy. i like sweet potatoes, baked, with a little butter on the side. dessert...i'm a big fan of tarts with fresh fruit, esp. blueberries and raspberries.

how did i know you'd ask something about food? :D

Your salad sounds good. And now I want a baked sweet potato. I am so suggestible.

I'm so glad you have a journal now!

this sounds smarmy but the way he looked at me when we first met, i was smitten and well-nigh onto love. it was a look for which i was completely unprepared for. it was as if he was already in love--not lust, not a crush, not interested--in me. i had just sat down from reciting some poetry at a slam on my college campus, and he came through the entire crowd of people, in an old-fashioned brown suit, fedora in hand, and kissed my hand like some anachronism, to tell me how beautiful he thought my words were. well, for a girl brought up in a decidely unromantic time and manner, it was like he dropped a bomb on me. a honey bomb. if i wasn't in love after seeing him turn and walk away after that, it was something so close to it as to be nearly meaningless in its difference.

trust. that would have to be latt. he's a very careful, conscientious, loving person.

if money were no object...i'd be having another baby in the next year or so. i'm like a damn junkie for pregnancy and especially birth, and those early months with the baby at the breast or in the sling are always so serene and somehow *right*.

after that, i'd be setting up a living and learning type of community...an ecovillage eventually, with the right grants and members in place. i'd like to grow organic food, raise bees, goats, chickens...plus mushrooms and berries. i'd like to run day camps teaching city kids country skills. like gathering eggs, picking berries, identifying and gathering useful herbs and wild foods, milking goats, etc.
